Our Learning Environment

Our learning environments are designed to support every child to feel confident, engaged and ready to learn.

At St John the Baptist, our learning environments are thoughtfully designed to support the needs, wellbeing and growth of every child.

Our classrooms are welcoming, engaging spaces where students feel comfortable, focused and ready to learn. Each space is well-resourced and adaptable, allowing teachers to respond to students’ needs and create meaningful learning experiences that encourage collaboration, creativity and deep thinking.

Learning extends beyond the classroom, with opportunities for students to engage in both indoor and outdoor environments across our school. Whether working in flexible learning spaces or connecting with nature through our outdoor areas, students are encouraged to explore, question and engage actively in their learning.

Our specialist programs enrich the learning experience, with teachers in Physical Education, Music and Library supporting the development of the whole child. Our Learning Support team works closely with students and teachers to ensure every learner is known, supported and appropriately challenged.

Play Spaces

Play is an important part of life at St John the Baptist, and our students enjoy a variety of spaces that support both active play and quiet connection.

Across the school, students have access to a range of play areas that cater for different interests and stages of development, where there are options for movement, imagination, games and social connection.

A highlight of the day is time spent at Jacka Park, where students play together in a spacious, natural environment under the supervision of staff. Here, they engage in a wide range of activities, building friendships, developing teamwork and enjoying the benefits of outdoor play.

Opportunities Beyond the Classroom

Students at St John the Baptist are encouraged to explore their interests, try new things and develop their talents through a range of additional opportunities.

Lunchtime activities such as Garden Club, Technology Club, Choir, Library and Lego Club provide students with space to be creative, collaborative and curious. These experiences allow children to connect with others, build confidence and discover new passions.

We also offer a range of optional private lessons, such as, dance, guitar, band, coding and chess, providing further opportunities for students to extend their interests in ways that suit their individual strengths.
