All 2026 Kindy kids are invited to enjoy a morning with Mrs Millar
If you have a child starting Kindy in 2026, they’re invited to join our Ready, Set, Kindy! morning. We’re opening up our Kindergarten classroom with Mrs Millar to give 2026 Kindy Kids a sneak peak into what ‘big school’ is like – and show them that it’s such an exciting time!
- When: Wednesday, 2 July 2025
- Time: 8.30am drop off, 10am pick up
- Where: St John the Baptist Freshwater – 7 Johnson St, Freshwater
- Who: All kids starting kindergarten in 2026. You do not need to be enrolled at our school to attend.

Morning Schedule
8:30am: Arrival and Drop Off
Please arrive at the Samaritan Campus by 8:30am. A friendly staff member will greet you and guide you to the kindergarten space.
8:30–8:45am: Morning Play
Your child will join in with the current Kindergarten children for structured free play. This relaxed playtime helps everyone settle in and begin making new friends in a safe, familiar environment.
8:45–9:00am: Morning Circle, Prayer and Song
We’ll gather on the mat for a special Welcome Circle. Children will enjoy a short prayer and a song to start the day.
9:00–9:30am: Book and Craft Activity
We’ll read a picture book together, followed by a hands-on craft related to the story.
9:30–9:40am: Pack Up Time
Time to tidy up! The children will learn about responsibility and teamwork as they help pack away the craft materials and reset the space.
9:40–10:00am: Outdoor Story and Fruit Break
We’ll move outside for a final storybook read-aloud, followed by a relaxed fruit and water break. The fresh air, gentle storytelling, and nourishing snack will bring a calm end to a lovely morning.
10:00am: Pick-Up Time
You’ll collect your child from the kindergarten area. We hope they leave with happy memories and growing excitement about starting Kindy!
FAQs
Do parents/guardians stay for the session?
No, this is a ‘Drop and Go’ morning. Parents/guardians can enjoy some time out while the kids enjoy a relaxed and fun morning in the Kindy classroom with Mrs Millar and our current Kindy students.
What should they bring?
- A small container with fresh fruit or vegetables (eg. apple slices, grapes, carrot sticks, cucumber etc)
- A labelled water bottle – staying hydrated is important during all the fun!
- Hat – we’ll be spending time outdoors, so please ensure your child is sun-safe.
Is this for kids who are already enrolled at SJB Freshie?
No. This session is open to all kids who are starting Kindergarten in 2026. If you haven’t yet enrolled your child, this is great opportunity for your child to experience what a morning at big school is like! Mrs Millar, our Kindergarten teacher, just loves meeting new kids and making the transition to kindy as easy and familiar as possible.
My child is already enrolled at SJB Freshie. Should they attend?
Absolutely! If already enrolled, your child will receive their special kindy t-shirt and welcome pack when they arrive. All kids who are enrolled in Kindergarten for next year are invited to this session, so they can meet Mrs Millar (their kindy teacher) and start to make some new friends. It’s amazing how smooth the transition to kindy can be once they know what to expect!
